Recycling pathways for ghost nets and other marine debris in Northern Australia

The objective of this report was to identify a modular recycling pathway for ghost nets and other marine debris in the Gulf of Carpentaria and Torres Strait, through the identification of a supply chain, recycling technology and market pathway.

This report considers the social, financial, technical, behavioural, and cultural factors that affect the viability of implementing a modular recycling pathway.

Opportunities and challenges have been reality checked against the metrics of technical considerations, community desire, expectations and readiness and applicability to a remote location, through desktop research, technology assessment and stakeholder engagement.

The report will inform the feasibly of recycling ghost nets and other marine debris in northern Australia. Sarah was project manager and author of this report.
