Dairy Australia Bioenergy Project
I worked with Dairy Australia to identify opportunities within Victoria for the development of bioenergy projects based on co-digestion of problematic waste streams from the dairy, red meat, pork and chicken industries.
Dairy Australia partnered with Australian Dairy Products Federation, Australian Meat Processor Corporation, Australian Pork Limited, Agrifutures, Australian Alliance for Energy Productivity and Meat and Livestock Australia with support from Sustainability Victoria though the Waste to Energy Fund.
This project showed the potential of organic and wastewater streams to be converted to a methane rich biogas for use as renewable energy.
This project required the development of an industry survey and subsequent data analysis to identify organic feedstock hot spots for further investigation.
GHD applied a novel tool known as InDeGO, to allow geospatial, multi-criteria analysis to map this data across Victoria.
